AISmartPlan is an AI-powered aircraft maintenance planning platform being used by Aer Lingus engineers to replace previously manual and time-consuming processes. The company began working with IAG through the Group’s accelerator programme, IAGi, which connects start-ups with airlines across the Group to test innovative technologies against real-world operational challenges.

This year marks a decade of innovation impact as applications for the 2026 programme open.

Hailing from 11 countries, these innovative companies will collaborate with IAG and six of its operating companies on solutions capable of scaling across the aviation industry.

International Airlines Group (IAG) has opened applications for the 2025 IAGi Accelerator Programme. The annual programme identifies and tests new technologies that have the potential to solve challenges across the aviation industry and was first launched in 2016 as Hangar 51.

Wastefront turns end-of-life tyres into sustainable aviation fuel. IAG's investment will help fast-track the construction of Wastefront’s first commercial plant in Sunderland, UK.

IAG, alongside the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI), Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD), Airbus, Boeing, Changi Airport Group (CAG), SATS Ltd. (SATS) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to set up the International Aviation Lab to collaborate on innovation projects that can transform airport operations around the world.

IAG continues to build their open innovation programme through Hangar 51 to find innovations that support Group strategy and generate value.The Group has defined Sustainability, Safe & Efficient Operations, Seamless & Experiential Airports, and End-to-End Customer Experience Enhancement as the strategic areas with in the IAG’s accelerator programme.
